OUT for Sustainability, along with OutLaws of Columbia University Law School present a Fab Planet Salon in NYC on the intersection of Environmental Law and the LGBTQ+ community. Salons are a chance to discuss the intersectionality of values and identity with the intention of mobilizing our queer and allied community for action.

Alyson R. Merlin
Student at Columbia Law School
Alyson has a Bachelor of Science in Ecology from the University of Georgia and worked for the National Wildlife Federation before coming to law school. She’s pursuing a career in environmental justice and is a member of Columbia Law’s Outlaws chapter, as well as a student intern in the Environmental Law Clinic.

Senior Director, Strategy & Operations for the Healthy People & Thriving Communities Program, NRDC.
Jason has extensive experience with the design, implementation, and evaluation of multifaceted programs and projects. He holds a Masters in Environmental Policy from Brown University, and a Bachelors in Environmental Studies from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry with Syracuse University.

Paula is an openly gay woman partner/shareholder at B&D, the first woman and openly LGBT shareholder in the firm’s NY office and was the first openly LGBT member of the Firm-wide management committee. She chaired our Diversity & Inclusion Committee for several years and is currently the Corporate Secretary for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and actively involved in D&I issues in the legal profession.

Gerod is the Founder and Board President of OUT for Sustainability and a Senior Strategist with Valtech, a leading digital experience agency. He has extensive experience in innovation strategy identity positioning, and holds an MBA in Sustainable Business from the Bainbridge Graduate Institute and a Bachelors in International Studies from the University of Washington.
