What is Sustainability?

There are several reasons to be confused by the term sustainability. It’s a really long word with a variety of historical applications from organizational continuity to environmental activism. We’ve wrestled with whether it is the right word, and have decided it works because we use it a bit broader than that.

OUT4S defines sustainability as:

The state where decisions and actions on an individual, social, and environmental scale are free of negative consequences and create ongoing positive impact.

To explain and understand this further, we’ve grouped sustainability model into three big areas: Identity, Society, and Environment. Read more below as we dive into the themes and details of how to make all this theory a reality.
